I want to put solid hardwood over a concrete floor in a highrise condo unit. Putting down either 3/4 underlayment would cause height problems.

Can in glue it directly to the concrete with the proper adhesive?

NOFMA and the NWFA say no. Some adhesive manufacturers say yes. If that is light weight gypcrete, the adhesive will NOT bond to it anyway. Perhaps your best bet is a floating floor.
