I will be laying hardwood floors down a hallway and into bedrooms , should I lay a transition piece in the doorway to the bedroom and then start laying in that bedroom in a corner, or flow right from the hallway into the bed room even if it is in the middle of the room. Hope I made myself clear.

Thanks Phil

2 schools of thought on this. Some like the look of a floor that flows with no transitions. The argument for transitions is that if one room has to be refinished the transition provides a delineation between the areas....with no transition where does the refinished area end. Make your decision based on which look you prefer.

Thanks for reply, I like the idea of the transition.

When installing a "header board"at the doorway, which architects call a floor joint,
it is best to have the joint under the door. I like to have a mini-bevel.

If the transition header board is raised, i.e. not flush with the flooring make sure to leave adequate clearance under the doors so that when the doors are closed that there is adequate space for air return.
