Hi! I am installing a Bruce 3/4" hardwood naildown in my entire first floor. I started on my longest wall and I think I have a good straight starting point.

What I am having trouble with is when I need to go out my starting room (living room) into other rooms. Worst part is that the rooms reconnect in the kitchen and I'm afraid I won't connect up perfectly (my living room has 2 paths to the kitchen)

Any advice on the matter? So far I am 90% to matching up.

thanks in advance!

you will need to snap some control lines. use them to make the floor meet back up. if its straight now you should be able to project those lines forward into the kitchen on both sides. If they line up then your floor will too. Just check as you go to make sure its going to line up. this way you have time and space to make up where you have gotten the thing out of square if neccessary.

Thanks for the reply. It just seems that even with a chalk line, it's hard to predict how straight the boards will be until they actually meet up and you nail in the next few rows. Apparently I can't do much better than this according to other installers I've heard from.

I think I will measure in 4 places out into the kitchen (2 from each side) and snap a line which intersects the 4 points and see if it makes a straight line.

Keep measuring rows, back to you control line. As you get closer you will know how much to cheat.

I sweat it every time and it somehow always matches up.

Dry lay the last part where it wraps around so's you can get a better picture of what you need to cheat on. Buy lots of filler
