Same staples... two different lengths. It is never recommended to fasten the butt end tongue. You are supposed to stay off the board ends by at least two inches anyway.

Invariably you will find some places of the 1/2" CDX that will swag or dip between the joist. There i would back off a little more on the ends to let it bridge and not telegraph up. I keep small pieces of 30 lb felt to insert there as I go along.

And yeah, doing that is very time consuming , but I find it necessary to do installing prefinished flooring. Can you tell I am anal? :D

I like your idea of using paper where the subfloor dips a little.

Are there different 2" staples for Stanley-Bostitch M111 FS?

Lowes has a 2" staple that says for flooring but it does not have any rings or ridges. Are these the only staples for this gun?

I have seen 15lb and 30lb both mentioned. Which is recommend? Lowes has a product for flooring that is pinkish and a little smoother than tar paper. Any ideas on that? Also some use a 4mil plastic and tar paper both. ????

Thanks, Darryl
