I live in the chicagoland. i am installing Brazilian walnut flooring throughout the first floor. I am not sure about the foyer. I removed the ugly ceramic tiles from there. Being in chicagoland, we get some snow - few days a year. It is advisable to put the walnut flooring in the foyer or not. The main thing I am concerned about is guests coming in winter and they are going to probably have snow in their shows and they will remove it right in the foyer area. Or since it is only few times a year, is it ok to have the hardwood in the foyer? I hate having to put ceramic tiles there. The foyer area is about 10 X 4 feet size. Not too much. If I do put hardwood, it will look great with nice continuity from foyer to the living room.

Thanks a ton for your advice, guyz.

Anyone? Thanks. The foyer will probably get less water when compared to the kitchen floor. What do you think? Thanks.

I would put down wood if that's what you like. In inclement weather bring out a good walk off mat.
