Help!!! I do not want to lay eng. flooring in my basement. I have bought
and just need the best advice you can give on installing on slab with no
warranty. We have done moisture tests and it is fine. Here is my game plan unless you can suggest anything better: Let wood for basement acclimate as long as possible. Seal concrete. Spread a 6 ml ply film over the concrete lapped up the sides. Place 5/8" cdx plywood boards running the opposite way the wood is laid leaving a 1/8 to 1/4" gap between the board ends to allow for plywood expansion. Secure with concrete fasteners in a 12" grid pattern. Plasce 15 lb. felt over the plywood. Nail wood is place leaving a 3/4" gap beside all wall boards for wood expansion.

How does that sound? Do you think it will work? Any suggestions on the
best concrete sealer to buy?

Thanks, a puzzled Susan

You want an honest opinion?

What kind of flooring does your bedroom have? It could be due for an upgrade......;)

Now go buy a floating floor. Junckers offers a 3/4" solid floater (not sure if it is ok below grade though).

If you secure with concrete fasteners after sealing slab and covering with 6 mil poly they will have been no use since you just went through both of them. Find a floater for below grade and do as KRV said and use it somewhere else.

ALL SOLID WOOD FLOORING is NOT recommended for below grade, including basements. If you want a cupped and buckled floor, then go for it. BTW, 5/8" plywood is NOT thick enough as a nailing base for a 3/4" flooring. It must be 3/4".
