Hi,

I bought a new construction condo a few months ago and all the units have hardwood floors. I live on first floor and here thumps every time my neighbors walk upstairs and its driving me crazy..

Isn't the builder required by law to install cork before installing the hardwood to make a sound barrier between each unit?

I think the builder didn't insulate the floors correctly when building the units and I was wondering what are my options?

Different requirements in different areas. That's a drag...If it was me I sure would find out the specs through your local building dept. Rough situation. Convince your neighbor they need a carpet runner, so they dont slip on the steps ????? I'm sure I can think of a lot of solutions that aren't feasable :( There's some pretty smart guys on this Forum, may need to get creative here.
