Yea, quit shopping at LL.
In some cases, it may be advisable to staple/nail a new floor over an existing floor, but I wouldn't ever recommend gluing to an existing. First of all, will the glue bond to the existing finish? You'd have to use a full urethane adhesive to have a shot, and that will create somewhat of a moisture barrier across the top of the old floor....any moisture emitting from the slab will be trapped in the old floor and could cause mold/mildew, delamination, releasing frm the slab, etc.
Bottom line, the floor is only as good as what it is glued to....if the stuff under fails, the floor fails. Take out the existing and install to the slab directly would be my advice.
