Hello all,
I will be starting some flooring projects soon. One of the rooms will have 20" x 20" porceline tile on Ditra XL. The room that attaches to the tiled room will have 3/4" hardwood, the planks will run paralell to the door butted up against the tile.
I will more than likely be doing the hardwood first so that I make sure the planks are straight in the doorway, then the tile.
The groove portion of the plank will be facing the tile where as the tounge will be facing the inside of the room to have hardwood and of course facilitate the stapling process.
My question is about the first row in the doorway that will be close to the tile. I dont want to face nail it if I can avoid it.
Can I take my 15 gauge finish nailer and drive nails on an angle through the inside of the planks groove?
Also, should a groove be left empty in a doorway like that? Or should a filler of some sort be put in the groove for support?
