I am planning to install a hardwood floor over concrete in a basement and, though I've leaned a lot from your site, I am getting so much conflicting information from contractors I am confused. I know from this site that a floating floor is my best bet, but I don't like the "fake" look of those like Tarkett's longstrip. It just looks like a picture of wood to me. Is there an alternative. Am I looking at the right thing?

Margie:

Try looking through our pages on floating floors(link below). We have links and descriptions of the types we offer. Some are one piece wide plank floating floors instead of the more common three strip that is similar to laminate flooring.
