I'm Paul, I'm new to this forum from Denver, Colorado. I have some hardwood I need to install on my concrete basement floor. I need to know what to put between the hardwood and concrete.
Home Depot suggested this thin liner for 0.64 cents a square foot. It's a moisture barrier and sound treatment in one.
There is a thin sound barrier underlayment they offer it's not advertised as a moisture barrier though. 0.25 cents a square foot.
The stand alone moisture barrier they offer appears to be black plastic liner for 0.14 cents a square foot. The employee talking to me suggested that a moisture barrier alone isn't enough, you need some padding or the warranty for the hardwood isn't going to take effect. I have my own hardwood so that doesn't matter much.
So my route I want to drive is to pay for the least inexpensive stuff.
The flooring I have is wood, not a composite, the top layer is actual wood.
Please advise
