Just wanted to see if anyone has ever installed or have you ever seen a Backsplash that was Hardwood?

Just asking for the sake of design and could I bring this to customers.
Yes, Tile is king but Hey, I like to ask what if questions.

I do worry about durability of the backsplash
(Steam, Water, Oil...)

Can't say that I've ever seen one. I think I'd like the appearance but the maintenance would be a hassle. The only thing protecting the wood from all that moisture would be the finish and that would need to be kept up. From what I've seen of homeowners maintaining their front doors, I think the wood backsplash wouldn't look so hot a few years down the road. However, I suppose one could use a marine quality veneer and thoroughly seal and coat it in an fiberglass resin or similar durable coating and then it would more than likely last longer.

Yes,I have. I put a Oak backsplish on my bathroom vaninty. I coated it with a oil base polly. And that was almost 10 years ago, and it still looks Great. My whole bathroom is Oak.
