I'm new on this subject. I need to install 5" x variable lenght (3' to 12') x 3/4" planks of really hard wood (it's very very hard dense wood). It's unfinished (It is to be sanded and finished on site). It's on a second floor or above grade. The wood has the interlocking notch (just like engineered) and it tends to be pretty aggressive when in presence of moisture. What product would you recomend best for a glue down instalation???

¾ thick solid flooring is not intended to be glued down. It voids an and all manufacturers warranties.

A bead of glue out of a caulking gun, on the bottom by the end joints and a coulple of place between is fine as long as your fastening with nails or staples. But don't even think about full spread, without fasteners.

Call the mill that made your wood and have them fax over the specific requirements you need to follow, so they can place and maintain a warranty on the product you purchased.


I can tell you RIGHT NOW, wood flooring installation is not just a slap it on the floor and it's good type of craft. If you go into the job thinking so, your expectations will be shot to sh*t.
