I'm trying to decide about some transitions between a hallway and a room, where the natural way to lay the floor is parallel with the length of the hall and to continue it that same direction in the room.

Is there an industry standard / opinion on whether or not to flip a header board across the doorway? Alternative is to do nothing special and just lay right on through the doorway.

I like the look of a few headers but too many makes it look kind of busy...

It also increases the work by a lot... which makes me think it the professional way to go.

Is there a standard "right way" to handle that?

I prefer the turned board (header) It just looks cleaner to me

I think you are asking if you should continue to lay the hardwood through the hall doorway and into the room w/o a transition or whether to place a board across the doorway?

If I read your question correctly...no transition. Continue the layout into the room.

It looks best to me for the flooring to flow into a room. When I see a header board used out of place that usually indicates a large crew was involved so that several men could be working all at the same time.

I missed the part about the other room being done also, thought it ended in the halway.

skip the header and continue into the room.

Sorry for my confusion

That's what I like to hear...

Given my lack of experience I figure a header will take as long to do right as the rest of the room.
