Hi, I live in an apartment with all hardwood floors and we have used the little gripper pads from Wal-Mart to keep our furniture from sliding around. This works wonderfully all throughout the house, but with the couch they are more of a nuisance than a help.

Here's what i do, I clean the legs of the couch with cloth and warm water. Then i stick the pads to it. This works great for about 2-3 weeks. Then, because we sit mainly on the couch and get up and down. The couch starts sliding because the pad has worn of and is stuck to the floor.

I have looked for all kinds of stuff, but it seems the only products I can find are pads that allow furniture to move easily across floors. This is giving me such a headache that I am about to anchor the couch to the floor with huge wood screws. (just kidding)

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

We had a similar problem in our house - try this:

We found some plain, smooth metal, nail-in feet, and nailed them to the underside of our sofa - about 1-1/4" diameter. (These are simply to provide some engagement with the rubber floor protectors.)

Then we used largish (about 3-inch diameter) rubber floor protectors - like coasters with a raised lip, and raised rings on the inside surface. I carved out the innermost raised rings, until the best fit to the metal feet was achieved. Lift up each corner of the sofa, and place one of these down on a clean floor.

Sofa does not slide around, and floor is protected - only inconvenience is when you need to move sofa for cleaning - need to re-align rubber protectors.

Hope this helps
