I just took up the carpet in my living room and parquet in the entry way. Under the parquet is a green glue. Should I leave it or try to remove it? I'll be installing hardwood throughout entry and living room.

The house it 20 years old and we have lived here for 5. Under the parquet was a foamboard kind of cushion which I like, but am not sure what it is. I may want to use somthing like it under the new floor. Any clue as to what it is?

What you have is likely to be the Hartco Foam backed parquet. Still manufactured today..believe it or not. If you're gluing down any new floor it must be removed. Floating? It can be left there.
