I'm looking to replace roughly 1500 sq feet of carpet on a second floor of an Arizona home with engineered hardwood. Right now I'm looking at a Mohawk uniclic product that will probably be floated due to a family member's sensitivities to VOCs.

Any recommendations on an acoustical underlayment with good sound absorption properties? Would prefer something that's odorless.

Thanks.

Cork. It's been used for eons. Environmentally friendly too.

As far as sound absorption, it's not just about what's used but how it's installed, but for a residential home probably not as critical.
