I'm looking to lay 3/8" thick bamboo on the ground level of a split-level house (at and above grade). Half of the existing floor is old, original finished oak and the other half is concrete. Both floors are completely flat, even at their transition.

Since I'm looking to glue the bamboo over the existing floors, I'm going to assume the following (correct me if I'm wrong):

1. I'll need an adhesive with a built-in vapor barrier (like a Bostik Seal-N-Grip) for the concrete area. Any recommendations on a specific adhesive would help.

2. I'll need to prep the concrete. Any recommendations on products to do so?

3. I'll need to run the bamboo perpendicular to the existing oak floor, even though I don't want to (better safe than sorry, I suppose?). The existing oak is 2" wide and the bamboo is 4" wide, if that helps.

4. I also assume I'll have to scuff or sand the existing finished oak in order for the adhesive to take hold. Will I have to remove all of the finish from the oak?
