I have a problem with a glue-less laminate floor that has recently started to lift in one area. Its in a kitchen and has been down for just over a year. It seems to be worse in hot / humid weather. I have checked and there is sufficient gap around the perimeter to allow for expansion. There is no damp either. The effected area is just inside a doorway and in front of a dishwasher, to one side is a breakfast bar with a cupboard under, which is quite heavy. When its pressed down the surface seems flat but when its left to settle (ie lift) and I put a straight edge along it there is quite a difference in height. Any ideas what might be causing this and how to cure it?
I did wonder if the lifting was caused due to the weight restricting any lateral movement and causing the planks to lift as a result, but if it was then surely it would lift elsewhere which doesn’t. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks from stroudi
