Hi everybody, I am used in gluieng most of my flooring, even on plywood, even if I am nailing, I always use glue. I got a client, a die hard ecologist, who do not want any glue. I am afraid if nailing only the boards to the plywood, that in some months, the flooring become very noisy while walking on, because there will be always a movement in the timber during winter and summer time. Can someone help please, I know that in the us you almost nail the flooring boards.

I'd say most of us here only glue after 4 inches wide, even then most 5 inches and more. How wide is the wood?

More important than glue is proper acclimation .if the flooring is the same moisture and RH as the home, and is under 4 inches wide, staples are sufficient. I even did a 3 inch brazilian cherry floor that ended up absorbing a ton of moisture from having a cement slab poured under it when a new basement was built. The flooring cupped quite a lot. But after the season changed, I re sanded it flat and there's still no squeaks and the flooring looks nice and tight. This goes to show how well staples alone can hold a floor.
