I hope someone can help me with this. I have been installing hardwood for over ten years and have installed hundreds of floors. The last one I did was an enginerred distressed from mohawk. I used bosticks (EFA) glue as I have many times in the past. The problem is that when we cleaned the glue off the floor as we went and then when we were done with the install it looks as if the glue damaged the finish we used mineral spirits as per mohawks request also have tried goo gone and bosticks adhesive remover. We have scrub the floor when the floor is wet from the cleaning solutions the spots appear to go away when the solution dries or when we wipe it up the spots come back. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Do I have to refinish the floor?Any help would be great never had this happen before

Reports like this makes one want to avoid Bostiks. It's been some time since I've been in the loop or installing day to day, but there are other products out there I keep hearing about that don't have that constant cleanup problem. Perhaps more than I know. Maybe some of the guys can mention names besides Taylor, and Mapei.

It almost sounds like it has etched the finish which unfortunately is permanent, but don't jump the gun yet. Maybe others have ideas. I don't recall EFA as being as troublesome as their flagship brand.

Iv'e used EFA ever since Bostik replaced TKO with it.... been years, and from what I understand EFA is the same as TKO, only not green in color.
Never had a clouding or etching problem, even on Bamboo. EFA cleans easier than any adhesive I've used. Well Mapei 980 cleans well. How long was the adhesive left on the floor? Bostik states.."Immediately clean any adhesive on pre-finished flooring with a soft cloth and mineral spirits". I always clean as I go, and clean the entire floor at the end of the day. Even way back when I used Bostiks Best....It didn't cloud unless you left it on the floor overnight. And that stuff is nasty strong.

Had a rep demo Mapei 990 even after drying the glob he had put on the finish just peeled right off without any noticeable trace. Pretty impressive.
