I'm planning to install BR111 triangulo engineered floating flooring. Their web site says to glue the first 4 rows together then let it set. How long should I let it set before going to the next 4 rows? Do you pro's wait until it sets or do you just move right along?

Most of the pictures I've seen here show the installers taping the wood together with painters blue tape. Is taping just as good as strapping?

I have not attempted that yet, but I got plenty of straps if I need them.

Do the instructions mention strapping? I would not think after the initial rows are set that you would not have to wait any installing the balance. The first rows on a floater are the most critical, if they get out of alignment any then the whole floor will be off.

The instructions do not mention staps but I read elsewhere that they may be a good idea. I will lay the first rows making sure they are as perfect as possible then tape and wait.

Thanks Jerry.

When installing a glued up floating floor, it is a good idea to glue together the first four rows, as BR-111 says. This adds stability to the installation. You do not need the straps if you can keep the wood tight and straight with tape. The problem with tape on a glued together floater is you will often get glue squeeze out and you need to clean that off right away. Now the face of the boards are damp and the tape doesn't adhere well. IMO, strap clamps make keeping those critical first four rows together easier. But they are not required.

I use my straps to get compression, and while the straps are holding it tight, I clean glue ooze, buff it with a dry towel and then stretch blue tape across the assembled boards, to hold it, so I can release tension on the straps and get more rows installed.
