Buy a bag or 2 of play sand and spread it on the adhesive as you sand, so the adhesive balls up with the sand, instead of gumming your paper so fast.

You could also try a open grit paper ..

Won't the walk behind sander just almost instantly pick up the sand?

At rirst it will until the adhesive gets hot and gooey, Keep the sand in front of you as you make a pass. Clean the balls of sand and adhesive up and make your next pass. The sand is a media for the adhesive to mate to instead of your paper, it will self clean the paper to an extent.

Duct tape on the soles of your shoes, so you can peel it off at transitions and not track that gooey mess all over.

Floor Guy- You are the Man!!! The sand worked great. I rented a 17 inch buffer/sander without vacuum and got 16 grit pads. Every 10-15 minutes, I would feel the pad getting sticky, and clean off the warm glue easily due to the sand. I sanded 400 sq. feet in about three hours. Your advice saved me hours, I mean days! Thank You again. Doug
