I am installing a floating 1/2 inch thick engineered floor on concrete and need a glue reconmendation. My instructions from the manufacture say only "tongue and Groove adhesive". The place I purchased the hardwood from keeps telling me a "urethane based PVAC adhesive". I believe that urethane and PVAC are different compounds glues, so this like saying a "turkey based roast beef sandwhich?" Am I missing something here?

Titebond makes a glue a Tongue and Groove glue that is a "Cross-linking polyaliphatic emulsion" which looks to me to be neither Urethane or PVAC, but sounds like the right stuff. Obviously I don't want to screw this up.

Any experienced installers care to give some guidance?

Thanks, David

Sure seems to me that Titebond II is the same as the others...smells like it and tastes like it too.

I use the Millenium T&G adhesive by Parabond alot @ 9 bucks a bottle. What you don't want to use is regular ole wood adhesve that will break at the bond line when the floor flexes. Theres a slew of others. However, I have read some installation guidelines that say Titebond is ok and I have used it successfully as well. Cept I hate their tips, they clog easily.

Franklin Titebond 11 is what I use and haven't had a problem. If the floor is flattened properly, there should be little flexing.

Ask Titebond but I'd think this should work quite well.

You want an aliphatic resin adhesive. Titebond Original, Tarkett Eversett, etc. Water resistant, shock resistant, doesn't require a lot of pressure.
