I am gluing down some engineered wood floor on a concrete slab. The Manufacturers glue costs a fortune. My question is: Are the wood floor glues they sell at lowes or home depot adequate, or should I pay roughly 3 times the cost and get the manufactuerers adhesive

pharm,

I think the bostiks and dritac brands that are a bit more expensive @ 120 or so for a 4 gallon pale are what the pros use and recommend.

But I bought the Bruce Everbond at the local *D on my DIY project and glued bamboo down to concrete with it. At about 70 or so for a 4 gallon pale, it's a lot cheaper.

If you have a quality 5-8 ply engineered product, some of those expensive glues might be a bit overkill. You just want to make sure you use a product with no water in it. The Bruce product is a cross-linked resin, and it contains no water.

With engineered, you can get away with an acrylic wood flooring adhesive. Read the instructions on the bucket, and follow them, without making up your own specifications.

Keep in mind however, you have way less open time, usually only about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour, with those acrylics. Straight urethanes, like Bostik's, give you at least 3 times more open time.
