i'm at the end of my project but i'm a bit short on glue and need to get more. i'm hesitant to buy another pail of the Anderson Duck Glue that costs on average around 140 dollars for a pail that covers much more than what's left for me to put down.

can you guys recommend a glue i can use that i can purchase at a local Home Depot or Lowes?

the glue is a for an Anderson engineered hardwood over concrete.

thanks in advance!

To me it depends on the species, even though it is an engineered, as to what type of adhesive to use. A maple, get urethane. An oak, use the acrylic.

I have yet to find gallons of adhesive, for those jobs that seem to be bigger then they are. Spread rate of 45 - 50 sq.ft. per gallon.

You can use an Acrylic like Taylor's 2071, it is still around $80 for a 4 gallon pail. (better for engineered then the duck glue. Better moisture warranty)

Why is a urethane better for maple then oak? Is it due to the stability of the hardwoods you are installing? Who else shares your views? I've never heard that before, nor read it.

Maple exhibits less dimensional stability than oak. Depending on the amount of plys,I would not sweat it,either way with an engineered.

nevian,

Why must you purchase at your local big box DIY store. My flooring distritutors sell to the public (at a slightly higher rate) and they carry Bostick's and others in 1 gal. pails. Call local flooring distributors.
