I searched the archives and it seems like sometimes hardwood is installed in the kitchen and sometimes it's recommended not to be installed. I figured with engineered hardwood's lack of expansion, should make it fine to install in the kitchen. I might add my parents have solid oak in their kitchen for 15 years with no problems.

many years ago, i put down parquet flooring in the kitchen. it looks good and, being oak, it's lasted thru two kids and several dogs. however, it was 3/8" thick and i glued it down. i have been thinking of changing it but i'm really not in the mood to deal with removing a glued floor and risk damaging all the sub-flooring once again. i swore i'll never glue another floor again in the house just for that reason.

just my opinion on my own house.
