I am wondering if there is info out there on installing (glue-down)1/8 cork acoustical underlayment to concrete slab then installing (glue-down) wood plank flooring to that. My question is how and if you are suppose to get the wood floor to sound solid and not have hollow spot. Being that the cork is not as solid. Hope you can help me with info. Talking about a sinle level home. If you glue hardwood straight to concrete, it sounds solid. So if you put down cork can floor sound solid. I hope someone can help with some information.

When gluing one to the other, it becomes a laminated assembly. Your not floating the cork, so it will be solid, when you glue the wood to it.

Hollow spots are caused from lack of floor prep to bring the concrete up to flatness requirements, for the adhesive chosen(started adding that after my experiences with slumping adhesives(BEST & SikaBond)

As an inspector I can find a hollow spot on any and every gluedown wood installation, if I tap on the floor. I don't call them an installation defect, unless they are greater then 1 sq.ft, in size or there are many 1 sq.ft. areas real close together, or they are making popping and creaking sounds.
