Just bought a Morning Star click lock bamboo from LL and I'm wondering if it is ok to glue this down. Im on a slab and like the idea of glue down but after helping a friend glue down a tongue & groove I prefer the ease of a click lock.

Should I just float it and be done with it or what?

yes u can glue it down..or float it...click lock is just the ease of not gluing to float(the T&G)

Like James said. Also...( been a while since I installed that product ), but if the end profile hasn't changed ( non locking), you would want to use t&g glue at all the ends. Otherwise when the floor moves after installation...the ends will gap. LL recommends this, but doesn't seem to tell everyone. ( That is, if you end up floating it )

It's just going to be worse when you have to demo it. Better to use T&G adhesive and float it. Much easier to tear out.

I asked another manufacturer (can't remember who) about gluing down their locking floor once and they said absolutely not. They said of the glue wouldn't have enough give for the floor to expand and contract as a whole.

Jeff,

I respectfully disagree..all it is is an engineered floor with a self lock T&G...no different them installing any engineered floor.
only problem i see is actually interlocking into bed of adhesive..probably would be a pain..but surely doable.

i have found in my years that every now and again, you come across a fool in a tech dept that really doesn't know their A44 for their elbow.

I'm just saying what the manufacturer told me. I actually think it's a good idea but was told no. If you have done it with out any problems maybe I will try it on a small job.

Wish you could remember the manufacturer. Maybe it's a funky core, like MDF or something? Otherwise..as long as its cross grain construction engineered...all your looking at is a t&g profile difference..

Coarse "Techs", and Reps aren't even close to what they used to be either

He can do anything he wants but you have to remember who he is buying from. Oh.....heck there is not any warranty worth a hoot anyway, so go for it if it makes you feel better. Just saying it ain't going to be pretty when you have to tear it out next year.

Everyone agrees that it will be a problem if you decide to tear it out but if you do it right you will not have to. I glued 600 sq.ft. in my house last summer (on a slab) and the floor looks great. I used Mapei M959 adhesive after allowing 4 weeks acclimation time (bamboo has a reputation for requiring long acclimation).
