I am going to install about 750sqft of engineered 5" hand scraped maple on a concrete slab (on grade). After looking around on this board, it seems that I should use Bostik MVP for a vapor barrier and Bostik Best for adhesive. How does this sound? Am I missing anything?

Can anyone give me a step by step and/or any pointers that I will need to know or maybe some lessons learned that will help in this installation?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Get the cans of MVP as hot as you can, so it will flow better and slump the trowel ridges, making a seamless moisture membrane.

I Hate BEST adhesive, It slumps the ridges too much for my liking. I like BST adhesive much better.

I really like the Mapei WFM, which is like the MVP, but easier to apply and get better coverage(slumping) and a smoother surface for the adhesive. Mapei 990 adhesive.

Can this stuff (Mapei 990 adhesive) be bought at any local DIY stores or do I have to order this from somewhere? What is the price as compared to Bostik? Thanks for the info!

It is better on your budget. I get it through a distributor, but I have seen Mapei floor prep and Tile grout/setting materials, at Lowe's

Mapei's website will have a distributor listing, there has to be one close to you.

I was recently introduced to an adhesive that is extremely nice to work with and the moisture barrier system looks simple. Sika is the brand. Does anyone else have any experience with this product?

Wear a respirator and goggles!!!

The only and last time ever I used Sika T-55 that stuff burnt my eyes, throat and lungs. Thought I was going to be using BST, but the client brought in that stuff.

Also, Your floor prep better be better, then the specs call for, as that stuff slumps flat as pancake batter, not holding it's ridges at all.
