The Glitza finish most widely known is what is commonly called a "swedish" finish and is neither an oil-based or water-based. It is called an acid curing urethane and contains some very harsh chemicals. It is without a doubt, one of the best looking and performing of floor finishes. However, it requires a highly skilled person to apply it and it is quite flammable and toxic till dry. Many finishers will no longer expose themselves to the risks involved using an acid curing urethane like Glitza. The company, Glitza, does make water-based and oil-based finishes as well.
