I am considering starting refinishing business. My friend who is in the business stated that it would take about a year to learn how to refinish floors. Please give me some thoughts on this

I know guys that have been sanding & finishing for 20 years, and they are still learning.

Thanks for reply I've been looking a lot up on internet on how to do it. Friend is also supposed to be using me on some of his jobs so I can learn and get some experience. Problem is, the first job he was supposed to use me on, he got his son instead. He said he will use me on next job but i don't feel like waiting around on him and relyin g on him. I have some floors that need to be done and so dos my brother. I am considering trying my hand on his and mt floors. Thoughts very much appreciated

The cash outlay is pretty high for all the tools and vehicle you will need unless you buy used. The competition can be stiff and most people prefer to use someone with lots of experience. You will find the first few years tough going financially unless you are very lucky. I would suggest doing a little more research to see what the going rate is in your area and what the competition charges. Like any business endeavor, you should get into with your eyes wide open, if you understand my drift.

Yes, it will need to be hardwired in to the breaker panel.
