I'm planning to redo my kitchen and living room floors. I need some help choosing the correct flooring. The problem I have is my kitchen is currently tiled. None of the tile is loose. I have carpet in the living room. What I want to do is pull up the carpeting, but not the tile. can this be done? I forgot to say this is all on a concrete slab. if this type of installation can be done, which type of product do I need to focus on? Thanks for any help with this problem.

You certainly can, but it involves using a floating floor and putting plywood or OSB cut in strips in the areas where the carpet was to make that area even with the tile. Probably costs more than tearing out the tile. Then you also have height issues to deal with like the dishwasher, stove and fridge. Oh also gotta use 6 mil plastic under the ply or OSB.
