 Post subject: gauge of finish nails

what gauge finish nails do you use on your starter rows and finish rows in your finish guns thanks for the advice oh yea putting it in 3/4 wood

2" 15 gauge. Could use 2 and 1/2" but no reason to. If nailing over 3/4" ply over concrete, then use 1 and 1/2" for toe nailing and 1 and 1/4" for face nailing. Always use 15 gauge, never 16.

How bad would it be to use 16 ga. finish nails?

Not a matter of how bad but rather that 16 gauge is wimpy thin wire compared to 15 gauge. Just does not hold as well.
