Bob, not familiar with door jamb footers, got a close-up pic? I am a westener. Got a few old Victorian houses out here but most likely not like back there at all.

I'll bet you have seen them before it's just that my flooring language is just about non-existant.

I uploaded a photo;

I love Tucson and have stayed in the old houses there back in my USCF bicycle racing days.

Pretty much I just had to start somewhere and figure it out as I went. The electric is a good example as the standards have changed over the years from cloth covered wire through the technical changes and then the EU standards. This house had examples of it all. There are houses here from the 1700's but I wouldn't dare touch something like that. This house has stretched my skills way beyond what I imagined. But I'm happy to not live in a modern cement bunker. If I can solve this flooring problem I'll be over the hump.

ciao

Brought up in California a lot of the older homes had these thresholds. From what I understand they're purpose was to seal off rooms that people didn't want to heat in the winter. Now with HVAC, a threshold that seals off the room like that isn't the greatest idea, due to air flow, when the door is shut. Of coarse if you wanted to leave it in place, just trim the door up, or leave it open. Ever see those dark lines in the carpet at the door?......
