I know this issue must have been addressed a thousand times, but here goes:

I have installed 3/4" X 2 1/4" maple solid strip. It is Spring and I did let the boards acclimate inside for over 2 days. Due to the "non straigthness" of some of the boards, I couldn't close all the gaps completely. I am using a Bostich floor nailer with 15G 2 1/2 staples. Where there are gaps, when you look at them from a certain angle, you can see right down to the much lighter colored (natural) tongue. The gap is less than the thickness of a dime. Acceptable? Try to fill with acryllic?
Thanks

Is this a factory prefinished floor? If so, Bruce makes a filler for factory finished floors in different colors. Used to be able to get it at Home Depot, maybe you still can. If this is a floor that has been or will be sanded and finished in place, you can use Woodwise Patch in a maple color. This filler needs to be allowed to dry then sanded with the floor. They also make a prefinished floor filler/putty that works pretty good.

Once you get one gap, the gaps will multiply and increase as you go from there.

2 days acclimation, for a solid wood, is just guessing. What was the moisture content of the wood, and what was the moisture content of the subfloor? That's acclimation.

it's pre-finished Bruce Kennedale strip. The gap I am referring to is because I couldn't close it all the way on installation. I've continued installation and there are no more noticeable gaps and adjacent 5-6 rows. So if it's less than the thickness of a dime (in Wintertime) do I still fill it with the matching acryllic?

Oh that's different!

Bruce is the only manufacturer that says in their specs, that wood filler must be used. = Bad milling

Bruce is the only wood flooring where I have had to cut the wood filler out to get the next board in.
