I'm trying to do an engineered floor and pulling my hair out.

I chose engineered since the house has a fantastic natural-brick mudbed-set (flush to the slab) floor in the center and all hallways, and I can't do tall thresholds in 13 stinkin' doorways. Gotta glue something down.

All rooms are big, and there are no closets or small areas to use shorts.

I chose a Regal Hardwoods floor. I know they are sometimes dissed but the floor is really pretty nice. I bought it because they advertise long board lengths, and I'm doing some really big rooms.

Problem: The vast majority of the boards are 24" or 28", with virtually no long pieces. This flooring is going back.

Can anybody tell me how to get a moderately priced (it's a house I'm flipping, so price is an object) engineered floor with reasonably longer board lengths?

Just did a Shaw Camellia Oakmont 5' yesterday that was 90% long lengths.

Hi my name is Joe, I've been an installer for over 20 years and have to say. When buying an engineered floor with mostly the same length, all you have to do is cut your own starter pieces. What I mean is if you have a board that's 24" cut it in half and do the same to the other pieces so it can create a random pattern. Its pretty simple and it actually will give your floor more variation due to the smaller pieces. Its also a lot easier to install when the boards are shorter, when longer they can come bowed and be difficult to install unless the mill on the product is very good. Hop I helped a little.
