Some may complain about the hollow feel under foot with floating floors. We've found this to be exaggerated by the popularity of laminate flooring. Thicker engineered floors combined with an upgraded underlayment can reduce the hollow effect to the point it will sound and feel much like a solid floor or one that is attached to the subfloor.

What upgrade underlayment are we talking about, make, model, anything?
I would like NOT to have that hollow feel under foot.

Furthermore it may become necessary to fill low areas with a fast drying patching compound.
If you’re dealing with low areas of a wood subfloor, which fast drying patching compound are you referring to, make, model #?
Thanks,
Randy

The best floating floor underlayment I have used to date is Sound Solutions. For low areas I use Mapei Planipatch.
