Hi all,
First timer here.
Ive done some reading and it sounds like most of the time you want to frame a fireplace, but what about a case like mine where it's a gas fireplace running up the wall with nothikg in front of it? I'm thinking you wouldn't frame this?

Thanks!

The fireplace is usually the focal point of the room. Without a hearth necessary because of the installation of a zero clearance fireplace there doesn't need to be a frame. The frame would be if there were tile, stone, to another the material different from wood, so when cleaning the hearth the end grain of the flooring would not be exposed, and to help keep all the ends of the boards in alignment besides emphasizing the space.
