Thanks to everyone's help, my family room install is just about done. The floor (3/4" prefinished brazilian cherry) is in, baseboards and shoe molding are done as well. My question is what do you recommend for putting under the sofa legs? BR-111 recommends felt pads which I tried, but found that the sofas move around too easily. The kids like to sit on the floor and lean against the sofa (why they just don't sit on the sofa is beyond me) and when they do this the sofa starts to slide back. I thought about using something made of rubber, but was wondering if the finish on the flooring is compatible with rubber products. I have a cherry desk with a high gloss finish and noticed that some of the rubber bumpers I put under some objects somehow reacted with the finish causing it to soften and become very sticky.
I like two types of "sliders" for putting under furniture. The first are the little stick on pads that have a felt surface that contacts the floor. These are good because you can buy them in different shapes and sizes. The other type I like are the ones that have a "wooly" material sort of like seat cushions. These are great for heavy pieces and provide a lot of protection where you wont have to worry about scratching. Still, I always "lift" and slide the furniture at the same time.
