BTW What kinda consumer has magnetic balls laying around the house?

I didn't even remember that they'd done that there until I was shooting photos of the magnets and my wife (who was home during install) said "I have pics of them installing that area, would that help?". YES!!

Anyhow, yea, I like powerful magnets, they're really handy around the house.

If it's buckling like that and isn't fastened properly, I'm thinking they'll be willing to correct this at their cost. At least that's what I expect.

The rest of the house has countless spots where I can feel a slight pucker with my feet, and when I give it a hard bounce with my heel I feel it bottom out. This isn't great, but they're not nearly as visible as this spot was.

I'll have the inspectors judge these spots, I'm not a pro and maybe this is normal? (doubt it..) Correcting these is going to be a hell of a job..

yep looks like he didnt nail the turn board on both sides after the spline was put in. I've seen that happen before and just scratch my head, thats no diffrent than skip nailing a row. COuld have been an honest mistake, but at least its close eenough to that closet where a repair wouldnt be such a nightmare.

Hey, I plead "not enough info". Who was to know the buckle was where they changed directions. But I will hand it too ya , the magnets found it.That's one to remember.

But I will tell you what Stephen... I just finished a new product, and I got the idea from you,( & Torley). As we speak my daughter is loading a page onto my site. It's called the Board Bully  Send me your address and I'll send one over

I just got lucky figuring it out. I had an Epiphany after a reply the other night and thought, even with a small degree of rh something is letting those planks rise up, has to be nailing schedule and yes Like Kevin says it is just like skip nailing which I have never ever done...least not intentionally...maybe on and end plank. Not bragging of course.

Ya know guys....no offense to you jdelisle but I was having a funny feeling about this guy,,,a consumer who has a professional meter and now shows up with the magenetic balls that still to this day that many inspectors don't know about. I think we're getting punked and jdelisle is really an inspector who was playing us to see if we could figure it out or he was perplexed and had us figure out his claim.

jdelisle...what do you have to say for yourself? :P

Now about that Board Bully. Thank you I appreciate it and I do need a good one. Looks like a good quality made product and nice and long too. Perhaps ya saw the knockoff I made of the Torly's. Mines falling apart cus it's made with plastic and screws from a Roberts long tapping block.

Here's the tool in action pulling in a plank of floating hardwood from under an undercut fireplace hearth. I use it all the time and one knob is busted off now.

Haha I WISH I had that kind of knowledge and experience! I wouldn't be in this mess!

The meter is something I borrowed from a friend who inspects buildings for environmental issues, and he's a nice enough guy to lend it to me.

The magnets were your idea guys, I can't take credit for that. I just happen to be a fairly handy guy who had some powerful neodymium magnets kicking around.

I'll be sure to provide updates after having an inspector take a look.

OK jdelisle but your still suspect.

I have to say the guys nailing schedule is spot on from the looks of the picture well mostly cept for those open areas. Musta been an honest mistake or thats just the way they do it there and he had the misfortune of having it backfire on him. Be easy on the guy.

Yup, be easy on the guy, I'm sure it wasn't lack of trying to be thorough. But ya know one thing has been buggin me during this whole thing. In one of the first posts it was mentioned that you rented the installer a nailer . What pro doesnt own a nailer?

Now 'Im lookin back and dont see that. I hope I'm not losing it

Nope, that's what I did.

He wanted to use staples, he didn't own a nailer. He says he always uses staples, and that if I wanted nails I'd have to provide equipment.

I asked the manufacturer, nails or staples, they insisted on nails, said staples "hold too tight". So, nails it was.

I own a Bostitch air nailer (like I said, I planned to do this myself), and rented him a second for a few days when two guys were nailing at the same time.
