Hello all - I registered here so I could get some advice from those in the know. . .

I'm a total rookie where flooring is concerned. I've got a very small office renovation to do and I plan to put down 60 sq feet of 3/8" Bruce Engineered Hardwood (purchased on clearance).

I was similarly cheap about my tools and bought a Bostitch manual flooring nailer on Craigslist. Of course, the seller took me for a ride and I had to buy 30 bucks in parts when I received it. (Lesson learned - never buy it without seeing it in person)

One of the nice things about finding the parts site for the manufacturer was getting a look at the manual. Turns out this thing only works for 3/4" tongue in groove flooring.

Being somewhat industrious, I'm pondering modifying my new (and increasingly expensive) toy to let me hammer in the 3/8" flooring. My question is: Has anyone else done this? Am I better off fixing this thing up, listing it, and getting/renting something else? I've got 100 bucks in at this point and I'd rather make use of it if I can. . .

id sell the 3/4 nailer again on craigslist and take that money and buy a 18/20 gauge stapler. A 16g like the one you have is way too big of a staple it will split and delaminate the floor. You can get cheap new ones at LL and Harbor freight that will get you through 60sf.
