I have a three season cottage on a lake in Canada. The 4th season is real winter (Dec - April with snow and well below freezing temps.) Moisture has been a problem, with mold marks on the inside of pine windows. Damp in early spring/late fall and can be humid in summer. Heat is presently supplied by wood stove in dining room. The present flooring in 12 foot wide commercial linoleum.
I am about to add a living room 12x20 with cathedral ceiling and thinking about a floating floor. The room will also have a wood stove sitting on a 4x4 ceramic tile pad.
I am also about to add a bedroom 10x16 which would also have the floating floor. It would have a wall mounted propane heater.
City based flooring stores give you a blank look when you ask for info on what to buy to handle this type of environment.
Next year, I might also want to extend the new floor throughout the cottage.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
