I have read in several forums about subfloor prep and now am somewhat confused. I have 1X6 T&G subfloor can I install 3/4 hardwood on top or do I need addtional plywood, 5/8 plywood and 3/4 hardwood adds considerable height.
Some say yes and some say no. I live in Modesto Ca

As long as you go the opposite direction or at a 45º to the 1x's it is possible. Only your installer is going to know if it will work, or if it needs some 3/8's plywood or OSB

Thank you I was trying to get as much done myself before the floor was put down. I am a DIY guy but have never done hardwood floors so I will get some help from a pro.
