Need a quick answer if anyone is listening. How many flooring bundles can I stack in a room for acclimating. I have 1200 SQFT of prefininshed on the driveway and in the garage. I am stacking it in one section of the living/dining room over the steel I/beam in the basement. I am gloing to be in trouble trying to work around this stuff if I spread it out too much?

i just stacked 5500 lbs of brazilian cherry in my dining room. however, where i stacked it i was fortunate to have a block foundation directly under it.

i wouldn't recommend doing that tho. you could take several boxes and put them in different rooms. i wouldn't leave them outside nor in the garage more than a couple of hours. the temperature changes and humidity changes can do a number on your wood. get them inside asap.

I had the same question recently. The reality is: Until you actually stack things up, you will not know whether or not any damage will be done.

For the most part though, houses can take a fairly good, though not unreasonable, beating.

A 180 gallon fishtank weighs ~2100 pounds with an average footprint of 72 1/2 x 24 1/2 x 25 5/8. It's recommended that something like this be placed against an outside/supporting wall.

So, generally, in many homes in the U.S.A., one ton can be set in a six foot by two foot area when against a supporting wall.

YMMV

I know, this helps a lot...

As no two houses are the same, and I doubt anyone would actually say "sure, stick fifteen boxes in the corner and you'll be fine.", I supply the following regarding the load bearing of floors.
