OK I have concrete, on grade. Covered with old asphaltic mastic and its not perfectly level. So a glue down could be a PITA, as the old mastic needs removing before the floor can be leveled. And besides, I don't like the rock solid feel of a glued down floor. So glued down is out.
But I don't like typical floated floors either. And besides, they need the floor to be VERY level. And the leveler products tell me to strip off the old mastic first. So floated are mostly out.
So I thought about nailing down a subfloor. But I have read horror stories about nails failing and the floor developing pops. 3000 tapcon screws sound a little onerous.
So thought about a floating subfloor. The best designs are two layers of overlapping 1/2" ply wood, screwed and glued together. That sounds effective, though good plywood isn't cheap these days and its a lot of screwing and glueing.
I stumbled onto the above mentioned product -- costs $1.50 sq ft. A little more $$ than plywood. But no screws/glue. I looked at it at a Lumberliquidator outlet. It looks good. Little "feet" on the underneath side. It will conform to the lay of the floor, and let me get by with a little more iregularities in the concrete as well, I think.
Anyone have expereince here?
