I'm considering prefinished engineered over a concrete slab. It seems to me that if I glue it down and if a section of it ever gets damaged, it'd be next to impossible to remove the damaged section and replace it.

Am I correct in thinking that with a floated floor (Kahrs or Br-111),
I could easily take out a section of it and replace it with new wood?

Thanks in advance!

Kahrs you would diassemble it, back to the bad spot. BR-111 is a glued T&G, it is more complicated.

A single or several board replacement isn't bad in glue down, the only difference is effort to remove, and scrape glue.

Thank you, floorguy.

It's the Kahrs builders collection that I'm considering.

Would removing squares from an engineered parquet-type floor (from another manufacturer) be more or less difficult?

Thanks!

To remove a section of glue down wood, it is best to cut the flooring up into 4" blocks. Or rip it across the grain in 4" strips.

floorguy,

I'm sorry for seeming so dense about this...but how exactly would you remove an engineered glued-down floor that's 12x12 parquet squares?
And would it be the most difficult kind of floor to replace a few sections of?

Thanks...
