I am very new to hardwood floor installations. I want to remove carpet and install 3/4 inch hardwood floor in my family room. What is the easiest installation method for novices. Is it true that 3/4 inch solid wood can only be installed as nail down. Looks like there is no floating installation option for 3/4 inch wood floor

Correct. ¾ solid is a fasten down only installation.

There is one company that has a solid 3/4" floating floor. Junckers is the brand name. Not the easiest floor to install however.
