We are installing a floating engineered floor over concrete in an upstairs room. My question regards the transition from the end of the floor to the top step of the room (the existing step itself is wood). The only products I have seen as a transition strip for one surface to another will result in an ugly and awkward bump to step over. My husband wants to glue or nail on a level to a piece of bullnose at the stair area only but I don't think this is advisable. What are our options to create a bump-free transition to the stair edge?

Some, but not all, manufacturers of floating floors make flush stair nosings. These are usually used for fabbing treads. However, one could use it for a landing strip instead of those overlap nosings. The downside is, this does not allow for expansion. So the installer needs to be able to assess the situation properly and decide IF a flush nose could work. The overlap nosing is what is typically called for. But I agree, I do not like them either.
