 Post subject: Floating Floor
PostPosted: Tue Aug 31, 2004 10:22 am
My wife and I had the longstrip engineered flooring installed using the floating floor method (no glue) about a year and half ago. The installers told us that the floor would creak and pop for about 6 months until it was broke in.... It has continued to do that to this day and we are now trying to sell our house. The interested buyers have been asking questions about it and I don't really know what to tell them or how to fix it. I have emailed the manufacturer and gotten no response... Does anybody out there have any ideas?

Definitely more of a popping type sound. It has gotten better in the more traveled areas, but is not gone completely from anywhere.... Are there any ways to fix it besides having it all redone? Would gluing or nailing down help?

The installer fed you a line of dung, so he would not have to spend the hours to properly install your floor.

He could get in and out quickly.

Did you ever mention to him, that you were just fixing it up to sell it, so you didn't want to dump a lot of cash into the job?

The only way to fix it since it was improperly installed, is to remove it and flatten the subfloor to specs. Then install new.
